Day 8: PanAway Essential Oil Blend

Welcome to Day 8: PanAway Essential Oil Blend

PanAway® has a stimulating aroma and is a popular and original combination of Wintergreen, Helichrysum, Clove, and Peppermint essential oils formulated by D. Gary Young. This blend is ideal to apply topically after exercise, and supports the appearance of healthy skin coloration. The essential oils in PanAway include naturally occurring constituents methyl salicylate, gamma-curcumene, menthol, and eugenol.

8-Panaway

This oil has been amazing for me! I apply it on my legs, feet, back – it’s perfect after a long day shopping or exercise, even when you first get up in the morning after a restless night.

My #1 Tip for this oil, combine 10 drops, plus 3 drops of peppermint and 3 drops of Copaiba from your starter kit in 2-4oz of whipped coconut oil. This will really help you get the most out of this oil, especially if you’re trying to cover a larger area, like your calves or thigh area.  You can add more oil as you increase the amount of coconut, but please test this first on your own skin to see what works best for your needs.

Whipped Coconut Oil Recipe

1 cup of Virgin Coconut oil* (can sub Refined or blend of Virgin/Refined Coconut Oil)
1/4 teaspoon Vitamin E Oil
Approximately 15 drops Essential Oil of choice
4oz glass jar (or non-reactive jar)
Stand Mixer or hand mixer

*Optional: to make a thicker, creamier blend, add 1/4 cup Unrefined Shea Butter during mixing. You will need to adjust the oils as necessary.

Directions:
Using a stand mixer, or hand mixer, whip coconut oil and vitamin e until soft peeks begin to form. Add essential oils, and return to blender until well mixed. You can also fold the oils in, but I prefer mixing. Spoon contents in to jar. This may need to set in the fridge for 3-5min if it’s too melted, but once set it can be easily stored in a dark, dry and cool place for use. I typically keep ours in the medicine cabinet and where lotions or creams are present.

Epsom Salt Bath Recipe

1 cup Epsom Salts
10 drops Essential Oil of choice

Mix oils in to salt, and store in airtight non-reactive container (glass is preferred, but stainless tins also work well).

Enjoy!

Day 7: Purification Essential Oil Blend

Welcome to Day 7: Purification Essential Oil Blend

14 days makes for a long challenge series. I want to take a moment to thank everyone that has tuned in with us so far. I’m going to keep tonight a little shorter, but ask that if you have time, please go back and check out the posts from prior days. Now on to the Oils!

Purification® Essential Oil Blend helps freshen the air and eliminate odors with its unique combination of Citronella, Lemongrass, Lavandin, Rosemary, Tea Tree, and Myrtle essential oils, and includes naturally occurring compounds cineol, neral, and geranial.

7-Purification

More Product Tips

  • Add a couple drops of Purification essential oil blend to shoes to help neutralize odors.
  • Diffuse Purification essential oil blend to dispel unpleasant pet odors and clear the air of impurities.
  • Diffuse or place 5 drops in 1/2 cup of baking soda (in a glass jar), and set in the laundry room or near sports gear, where musty smells can collect and linger.
  • Mix 5 drops of Purification with 5 drops of Lavender with 1tsp of witch hazel or vodka, and top off the rest of the 2oz glass spray bottle with distilled water. This combination makes a fresh, calming room spray while keeping odors at bay.
  • Add Purification oil to Animal Scents™ products to moisturize skin and improve the appearance for healthy looking skin or apply topically to enjoy the outdoors annoyance free.

Day 6: R.C. Essential Oil Blend

Welcome Back to Day 6: R.C. Essential Oil Blend

I hope everyone had a great Labor Day Weekend. We had a great time enjoying the company of friends and neighbors for our annual block party. It’s always a fun-filled event, for the kids and adults, alike.  Unfortunately, it was also the hottest day of the year.  I kept well hydrated, and added a bit of lemon to my water to boost the flavor. In addition, a drop of peppermint on the back of my neck helped keep me cool, and pick up on the light breeze in the air.

The next morning through, it was my good friend, R.C., at my side. Being in the heat all day, talking over music, and breathing in the smell of dry cut grass just got the best of me.

R.C.™ is an invigorating blend of pure essential oils – including Spruce, Cypress and three varieties of eucalyptus that is relaxing when used in massage. This carefully crafted blend helps support a healthy respiratory system.

First, what is an essential oil blend?

An essential oil blend is a proprietary blend of oils, designed for targeted to wellness. They represent the joining of wisdom and years of experience and study on plant oils. Young living’s R.C. blend is a 100% Pure, Therapeutic-Grade Essential Oil blend, backed by our Seed to Seal promise.

What do I like most about using blends?

I find blends to be a cost-effective and convenient way of maintaining a more targeted, healthy support that my body seeks, without having to invest in several individual oils. I also know from use, that this blend has been highly effective not only for me, but for my son.  Blends make it easy to use, easy to apply – and easy to add to carrier oils.

Read more about R.C. in one of the recommended Essential Oil Reference Guides, or check out studies on the individual oils to understand more about the powerful properties of this oil.

Additional Recipes & Uses: Topical & Aromatic

  • Another favorite combination for me is adding one drop of lavender with one drop of R.C., rubbing it on my chest and touching the tip of my nose.
  • Rub R.C. on your feet or chest before your daily workout, to uplift and inspire you.
  • Diffuse R.C. to create a comforting aroma in your room.
  • Add a couple of drops to V6 carrier oil to make a perfect compliment to your routine massage.
  • Consider adding 7 drops of R.C. to 2oz of Salve or Coconut Oil. It will make rubbing on the chest or bottom of the feet easier, and help spread out the oils. You can store the pre-made salve in a dark glass or non-reactive container in a cool dry area for up to 6-8mo.

Personal tip: When I need a little boost, I add a couple extra drops of Eucalyptus Radiata and Peppermint Essential Oils to my R.C. salve mix. Perfect on the bottom of my feet.

Aromatherapy Shower Bombs

Ingredients:
1 cup Baking Soda
1/4 cup to 1/3 cup water (depending on your humidity)
5-7 drops of R.C. Essential Oil Blend* (may use other oils, as desired. Please read labels first.)

Instructions:

  1. Add the baking soda to a bowl and slowly add the water while stirring constantly.  Add just enough water (between 1/4 and 1/3 cup of water) to make a thick paste.
  2. Add your essential oils and mix together.
  3. Test a heaping spoonful of mix to see if it holds it’s shape when you squeeze it in your hand. It should feel more dry than wet, but still stay in form.
  4. Do not add too much water.  If you do…just add a little more baking soda to the mix.
  5. Fill your molds with paste. Silicone flexible molds are recommended. Pack the mix in tightly.  Let dry completely (this is critical).  It can take 12-36 hours, depending on the humidity level in your home. You can also bake them in a low temperature oven (if your mold is oven safe) at 200 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes.  Let cool.
  6. Carefully remove from molds and store in an air tight container.

Education, Research & Essential Oil Use

I want to repeat something I shared on the last post, because it can’t be stressed enough. Education is a major part of Essential Oil use. Over the years, much of the wisdom gained from the use of plants and herbs has been lost from our everyday conversation. Reference guides should be your first point of reference when evaluating options for your personal needs. In the tabs at of the my home page, I include links to additional references for research purposes. Also remember to review some of the recent studies being done on Essential Oils through PubMed. Great information to glean.

PocketReference6thIf you don’t currently have an essential oils reference guide, there are a couple options I recommend, the first is one I would recommend is published by Life Science Publishing. This will have the most up to date information, and was written with insight from Young Living’s Founder, D. Gary Young.

The second option I recommend is the Reference Guide for Essential Oils produced by Abundant Health. This is also a great alternative. Abundant Health also offers an App for IOS & Android users, but I do find the books more in depth.

Day 5: Copaiba Essential Oil

Capsules

You might be wondering, “Where can I get capsules, what do they look like, or what are they made of?”

  • Young Living offers Clear Vegetable Capsules for sale through their website. They are also readily available in the health supplement aisle at your local health food store.
  • Look for the 00 size. These will be easier to fill, and swallow.
  • I use fractionated coconut oil (V6 Oil) or Grapeseed oil, to top off the void in the capsule, after I’ve added the drops.

I already know what you’re thinking, do I need all those fancy supplies?

  • The short answer is No.
  • If you don’t have an eye dropper, you don’t need one – I rarely use one (See the second example below).
  • You can also hold the pills in your hand as you make them.
  • I like to make up a week at a time, and keep them in the freezer in a glass bowl.
  • If you find yourself making several/day, you may want to consider buying the Capsule Machine or similar product to make the process go quicker.
  • Here is a link to a video showing how the Capsule Machine works with powdered herbs. For liquid, you will drop over each hole as shown in the examples below.

Welcome Back! If you’re just joining us, it’s Day 3 in our Getting to know your New Premium Starter Kit Challenge.

Today we are highlighting the King of essential oils, Frankincense (Boswellia carterii).

Frankincense essential oil includes the naturally occurring constituent boswellic acid, and has a woodsy, warm, balsamic aroma. Diffuse Frankincense during meditation for grounding and purpose. Applying this oil topically may help smooth the appearance of healthy-looking skin, and is excellent to use for massage after activity.

Product Tips

  • Inhale frankincense essential oil after lunch to spiritually refocus.
  • Rub frankincense essential oil on the bottom of your feet to help alleviate nervous energy.

I always love sharing this picture of my oldest son, inhaling his oils. A drop in the hands, rubbed together – with nice deep, belly breaths. Just enjoy this oil – every part of it. It’s amazing.

On Young Living’s website, Frankincense is also listed as a product that can be used to refine your skin. See a list of targeted support below.

Purge chemicals from your beauty routine and rediscover your natural glow. An ancient skin care secret, essential oils can help promote a clear-looking complexion, soften the appearance of signs of aging, and nurture healthy-looking hair. Using only natural ingredients, these advanced skin and hair care solutions make it easy to enjoy the beautiful benefits of essential oils every day.

Day 2: Lavender Essential Oil

Welcome to Day 2 in our Getting to know your New Premium Starter Kit Challenge.

Today we are highlighting one of my favorite essential oils, Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia).

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) has a sweet, floral aroma that is soothing and refreshing. Lavender’s aroma is great for relaxing and winding down before bedtime; add to bath or diffuse to create a calming and comforting environment. Lavender essential oil may compliment your favorite shampoos, lotions and skin care products. Because it is the most versatile of all essential oils, no home should be without it.

Lavender Essential Oil YLEO

In addition to the above, here are a few more ways I use lavender essential oil everyday.

1. Hand, face & body cream: Add a few drops to your favorite brand of lotion, or make your own cream using 1/2 cup Cold Pressed Organic, Coconut Oil, 1/8tsp Argon Oil, and 5-7 drops of Lavender. A little goes a LONG way, so keep that in mind when using Coconut Oil as a carrier base with any oil.

Tip: Oil removes oil. If you ever get essential oils in your eyes, use grapeseed or coconut oil to wash out).

2. Homemade Laundry Soap.
Click here for my GO TO Recipe! I cannot stop singing the praises of this formula. Even my husband is on board. Plus, in his words, “We’re saving so much, compared to what we used to spend”. My first batch was finally getting low, so I just re-made it with around 1mo to spare. So I was right on with my 10-12mo estimate, even with two growing boys in the house!
