Sadness, Joy & Life In Between.
A little over a month ago, I lost my mom. She was only 61 years old at the time. After years of failing health and continued illness, her body finally gave in. We were fortunate enough to be able to take the boys to see her before she passed. I know they still can’t fully comprehend what happened, but as they get older, I think they will appreciate having the opportunity to say goodbye. Here’s a picture of my mom, with us at our wedding in 2003.
While we were prepared for this for some time, you’re never really quite prepared for the impact it has on you, emotionally or physically. I’ve spent the better part of the past month reflecting on life, and how to make it better not just for myself, but for my family. Shortly before my mom passed, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, osteoarthritis, and an under-active and enlarged thyroid (no tumors present). Adding all of this together, it really become a stressful situation.
Taking stock of life: where I am, where I want to be, and what I want to do be a better wife, mother and individual became a primary focus. This prompted some fairly swift changes in our home. I stepped aside from a number of community service and school related committee responsibilities, and decided I needed to take better care of what I put in to my body, exercise more, and go back to doing things that help relieve my stress, so that I would be a happier and healthier person for myself and my family.
As a result of these changes, you will likely see this blog evolve a bit. I’m still focusing on essential oils, it will always remain an import part of our life and health focus. But I will begin expanding to share more on other health related topics (diet and exercise), and hobbies that bring happiness to my life. Soon you will begin to see posts on projects we are working on in our home, as well as some of the sewing or craft projects that I enjoy. I hope my regular followers stay with me, as I move forward – and contribute their ideas and input in the comments section.
